What Should I Expect With A Covid-19 Vaccination?
COVID-19 vaccinations are performed in-office and are a straightforward procedure. The COVID-19 vaccine is given in two parts. It is encouraged that you drink plenty of water before each appointment. After your vaccination, you may experience slight discomfort or redness, but this should resolve quickly. Most people do not experience any discomfort from the shots; however, we can offer suggestions on reducing discomfort if needed. You may be asked to wait in the office for up to 15 minutes following your injection to ensure you do not have any allergic reactions to the vaccination, after which you can return to your regular routine.
You will be given a rapid antigen test when you come to our office for a COVID-19 test. These tests are ideal for patients experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, such as a cough, fever, body aches, and shortness of breath, or those who have been in contact with someone who was COVID-19 positive. The test is performed by placing a swab up the patient's nasal passage to gather mucus. The swab remains in the nasal cavity for a few moments and then will be spun around and removed. The swab will then be submitted to the lab for testing. Results typically are received within 30 minutes.
